The Facts

For the past two years, the Brandon Area rescue Squad has been running a new subscription program for all households in the towns of Brandon, Forestdale, Goshen, Leicester, and Sudbury. The subscription program is a $40 subscription fee that covers everyone in the household from June 1st to May 31st of the following year for emergency ambulance transports, renewable annually.

The Benefits

The benefits to the household are piece of mind and financial. An average ambulance transport can total over $400 dollars and if advanced life support skills are performed the cost increases. All bills are submitted by Brandon Area Rescue Squad's billing service to the patient's insurance company for payment, but often there are unpaid balances of 10% to 80% and deductibles as well. For subscriber households the costs for the services are billed to their insurance, if the individual has insurance, and the unpaid balance is written off.

Support Your Community

The benefit to the volunteer membership of the Brandon Area Rescue Squad is the additional support to help maintain their high level of service. Fixed and variable costs constantly hit the volunteer membership of Brandon rescue and fees for the service the squad provides are used to cover the rising fuel costs, training and staffing coverage. Funds from the subscription program are targeted specifically at improving staffing of our daytime schedule. The vast majority of our volunteer members work full-time jobs and volunteer time and skills to their community during off-work time. This makes daytime coverage especially hard to provide. The membership program is one of the ways Brandon rescue can obtain some much needed support to continue its ever improving operations and provide financial piece of mind for households in the towns served.
